Do I qualify for KanCare?
This depends on your income and your family size. But once you’re pregnant, the income regulations are much higher, so look again if you’ve been denied before.
For example. if you’re a single mom pregnant with your second child, the income limit, as of summer 2023, is $3543/month.

Can I stay on my parents’ insurance?
If you’re under 26 and currently on your parents’ insurance, it will cover your prenatal care and birth.
Your baby will need their own insurance when they’re born.
Your parents will be notified of your doctor visits, so if this is a concern, consider getting on KanCare.
What if I’m not a citizen?
Non-citizens don’t qualify for KanCare, so here’s what we recommend to get the best care.
There are several clinics in Wichita that will see you for affordable prenatal care.
Your birth can be covered by the SOBRA health plan, which you can apply for when you’re at the hospital giving birth.
What if I make too much for KanCare?
Once you’re pregnant, you can apply for an insurance plan either through your employer, spouse’s employer, or the Marketplace. Pregnancy is considered a qualifying life event, so you don’t have to wait for the open enrollment period.
There are also some direct primary care providers who charge an affordable monthly fee for prenatal care.
